With its exceptionally high nature conservation status Whitwell Wood boasts a wide range of flora, including over 20 species that are indicators of ancient woodland.
Here you can choose to walk three trails, all with a different feel and outlook. Blue will take you on a combination of forest roads and tracks as you make your way to the very centre of the wood, passing a wildlife-laden pond along the way. Red is the longest of three walks and offers rich flora and fauna all year round, while yellow will take you on a gentle stroll from the info point to the pond and back.
