The Stockley Trail is a 2-mile multi-user trail for walkers, cyclists and horse riders which links Peter Fidler Reserve, Carr Vale Nature Reserve and Glapwell countryside sites.
Built on the former tracks of the Midland Railway, which used to take passengers from Chesterfield to Mansfield, now allows you to spend time in the lovely Doe Lea Valley, taking in nature reserves and countryside sites. It’s the perfect place for walkers who enjoy a spot of wildlife, as the adjoining reserves are on a main migration route for many birds. At the trail’s southern end, you’ll find the Glapwell Countryside Site, which offers an adventurous mountain bike track. This blue-grade mountain bike trail is suitable for anyone with basic off-road riding skills, making it a great family day out.
